While not completely unheard of, it’s rare to see a kids’ snowboard with a 3D base. The Jones Prodigy has a lovely bevel around the nose and the tail, making edge changes less twitchy. Thanks to the narrower waist, the transition is as rapid as it is smooth. A blunt nose and tail also make the Prodigy a lighter and easier to spin in the air when the time comes. Given its twin flex profile and freestyle-friendly profile (camber between the feet for pop, rocker at each end for presses and butters), taking it to the park is a must. On the piste, the same ‘Traction Tech’ wavy edges found on Jones’ adult boards deliver some welcome extra grip.
